We're Pirates Popcorn — a small-batch popcorn shop out of Greenville, NC — and we've been perfecting these flavors long enough to have opinions. Strong ones. Here's our completely biased, entirely accurate ranking of the best gourmet popcorn flavors out there.
Tier 1: The Legends (These Never Miss)
1. Sweet Salty
This is the flavor that converts people. You hand someone a bag of sweet and salty popcorn and watch their whole face change. The contrast between the caramel sweetness and the savory crunch hits a part of your brain that regular popcorn simply doesn't reach. It's the most dangerous snack we make because no one can stop eating it. Our Sweet & Salty is made in small batches so the coating is fresh and even — not clumped at the bottom of a bag that's been sitting on a shelf since March.
2. White Cheddar
White cheddar popcorn is what sharp cheddar popcorn wishes it could be. It's more refined, more complex, and it doesn't leave your fingers looking like you lost a fight with a highlighter. A good white cheddar popcorn — and ours is a good white cheddar popcorn — has a clean, tangy dairy flavor with just enough salt to make it completely addictive. 3. Caramel
